Occupation: Registered Nurse.

Professional details:
Working at the magnificent Flow Private Practice.

I feel most like a Babe when:
I’m in a kaftan, strolling along Currumbin beach.

I love coming to work each day because:
I work with great women who are so dedicated to their professions, but also know the value of a work/life balance and having a fun time.

To me, work/life balance means:
Getting to the special moments in my kids lives – being there if they are singing on parade or dressed up as Santa Clause. It means knowing when to focus on work and when to focus on family.

The one thing that got me where I am in my career today was:
Great mentors. I am still in regular contact with my inspirational National Manager from when I worked in medical device technology. She is awe inspiring and her advice is always refreshing and so spot on.

I feel most challenged in my career when:
When negativity creeps into the workplace. Nothing kills enthusiasm like negativity. It’s so important not to buy into it and move yourself away from it.

I feel most successful in my career when:
I have a new challenge. I love to be learning and growing.

The highlight of my career so far has been:
There are many highlights from my days at Guidant. I loved exceeding goals, I loved the dynamic nature of the industry and the inspiring people that I worked with.

The best piece of advice I have ever received was:
Believe in yourself and trust your own instincts. These words often ring true when dosing out advice to my own kids.

Next on my professional agenda is:
Building up a wonderful client base at the spectacular Flow Private Practice. The place is a haven for women seeking great health care and cosmetic services in sumptuous surroundings.

In ten years time I hope to be:
Free of school fees and travelling more.

The best holiday I ever had was:
Italy is always special, but nothing beats an annual pilgrimage to Currumbin.

If I was a pair of shoes, I would be:
Worn out.

If my life was a movie it would be:
An action movie, with scenes changing fast and flickering before my eyes (a slow epic would be great one day)!

If my life was a movie, I would be played by:
Oh, I would love to be played by Asher Keddie because she is in Offspring. But if I’m honest, I would more than likely be played by Rebecca Gibney or Barbara Streisand.

If I was a superhero, my superpowers would be:
Multi-tasking (especially making washing and ironing disappear).

Three things I never leave home without:
Lipstick, my earrings and a smile (most of the time, anyway). My favourite piece of makeup is lipstick because your lips define your face and a bright smile can bring a smile to other peoples lives too.

My word to the wise for all Babes in Business:
Good things happen to good people.

Meet our Best Branded Babe – Danielle Crismani, Stakeholder Relations Coordinator at Stanwell Corporation, Founder of #bakedrelief and now Director of Connected Relief.

I most feel like a Babe when: I’m baking in a Jessie Steel apron.

I love coming to work each day because: I enjoy the team I work with at Stanwell and together we achieve great things. Assisting people who have been flood affected or are in serious crisis means you know you are making their life better, even just a little bit.

To me, work/life balance means: Being able to switch off when it is family time. It’s a skill to work on, especially when you love your job. It can be hard to put it aside time for children / partner / friends / holidays uninterrupted. It’s especially difficult when doing work with a charity which operates on the basis of crises which can happen any time of the day or night.

The one thing that got me where I am in my career today was: The ability to see the bigger picture.

I feel most challenged in my career when: I see the ‘to do list’ is long, yet I know I can achieve anything with support and knowledge from a great team.

I feel most successful in my career when: I can make a difference in the company I work in or make a difference to someone’s life.

The highlight of my career so far has been: Receiving an award on the 100th year anniversary of International Women’s Day for my contribution to Queensland and of course the Babes in Business ‘Best Branded Babe’, 2012.

The best piece of advice I have ever received was: Don’t ever stop learning something new.

Next on my professional agenda is: Surviving the labour and birth of my fourth child (third son) in early February and assisting Connected Relief while I am on maternity leave. The question I ask myself in everything do now is “does this make a difference?” If it isn’t going to make a difference, I rework the task to ensure it does. This will guide me through the next few years professionally.

In ten years time I hope to be: A domestic goddess volunteering with charities and people who need help. It’s amazing how significant the QLD floods have been on my outlook to life, work and family.

The best holiday I ever had was: Fraser Island when the kids were toddlers. I have the fondest memories and beautiful photos of that time, completely shut off from the rest of the world.

If I was a pair of shoes, I would be a: Honestly, a nude Sandler wedge. Australian made, practical, not too expensive and can be worn with anything, to many an occasion.

If my life was a movie it would be a: (Genre) Musical Melodrama.

If my life was a movie, I would be played by: (Actress) Maya Rudolph – the goofy bride on Bridesmaids.

If I was a superhero, my superpowers would be: Mutation. The ability to mutate to anything required at any time.

Three things I never leave home without: iPhone, perfume and something to read.

My favourite piece of makeup is… because: Chanel Radiance compact makeup. It’s a recent purchase which I now love for its light cover that evens out skin tone. If I dust a bit of that, some mascara and lipstick, the two minute time investment makes you feel naturally glam.

My word to the wise for all Babes in Business: Never underestimate the gift you receive from giving to others and if you want to make a difference to your own life, start making a difference to someone elses. This can be as simple as giving a young inexperienced person a go in your company, anonymously paying for someone’s coffee or volunteering with something which means something to you. These unselfish acts of kindness will give you a more positive outlook and this will benefit your professional relationships too.
