Assistance required – home clean up at Karalee

Babes member Jennifer has informed us of 4 friend’s houses (all with kids) that flooded to the roof and have lost everything.  While they will need donated goods in due course, the immediate issue is cleaning out the mess.  There are also a number of older people nearby with no one to help them.

Address:  Albatross Ave and Queensborough Parade, Karalee.  Please note road closures if travelling from Brisbane as access may still be limited.

What to bring: Gloves and boots are essential.  Bring buckets, shovels and yard brooms. Petrol pressure cleaners and generators would be a god send.

When:  Friday 14^th January onwards.  Just turn up and offer to lend a hand.

A Brisbane girl originally, I moved to London in 1997. I joined Babes in 2009 while back in Australia for a time during the final stages of, and the months following, my mother’s battle with leukaemia. I returned to London in January this year and as is so often the case, after the event, I began to look back fondly on our time in Australia and the love and support offered while “home”. Accordingly, in a flurry of “settling back in” optimism and energy I flirted (dizzily, as it happened) with the idea of establishing the London chapter of Babes in Business.
