Q&A: Rebecca Parer

Occupation: Registered Nurse.

Professional details:
Working at the magnificent Flow Private Practice.

I feel most like a Babe when:
I’m in a kaftan, strolling along Currumbin beach.

I love coming to work each day because:
I work with great women who are so dedicated to their professions, but also know the value of a work/life balance and having a fun time.

To me, work/life balance means:
Getting to the special moments in my kids lives – being there if they are singing on parade or dressed up as Santa Clause. It means knowing when to focus on work and when to focus on family. (more…)

Q&A: Danielle Crismani

Meet our Best Branded Babe – Danielle Crismani, Stakeholder Relations Coordinator at Stanwell Corporation, Founder of #bakedrelief and now Director of Connected Relief.

I most feel like a Babe when: I’m baking in a Jessie Steel apron.

I love coming to work each day because: I enjoy the team I work with at Stanwell and together we achieve great things. Assisting people who have been flood affected or are in serious crisis means you know you are making their life better, even just a little bit.

To me, work/life balance means: Being able to switch off when it is family time. It’s a skill to work on, especially when you love your job. It can be hard to put it aside time for children / partner / friends / holidays uninterrupted. It’s especially difficult when doing work with a charity which operates on the basis of crises which can happen any time of the day or night. (more…)

‘Tis The Season – List Season That Is

Tracey Gillinder (2011 Babes Ambassador)

‘Tis the season and I’m not just talking awards season people, I’m talking lists.

You know, the beginning of the calendar year where newspapers, magazines and television programs like to compile lists of everything from ‘Oscars Best Dressed ’ to ‘The Worst of’. Most fashionable, most stylish, worst break-ups and greatest moments; just to name a few.

There is nothing like a list to spark some hot debate. At least, that’s what I like to call it. Lashings of criticism and ridicule from the masses just don’t have the same high spirited ring to them.

It seems we’re obsessed with lists. Not just the compellation of them and the content that goes into them, once they’ve been published we love to tear them and those who appear in them completely and utterly to shreds.

Celebrities who inadvertently end up in Who magazines ‘Golden Globes Best Dressed’ are subject to endless amounts of condemnation and not just from our living room whilst pouring over the latest issue with our girlfriends, but by members of the general public and paparazzi who not only see it as their right to bring these people down, they enjoy it.

The Cost of Love

The Cost of Love

Roslyn Loxton

Attraction, passion, flirting, excitement, lust, energy, happiness, fun, distraction, even nervousness are all delicious feelings associated with the explosion of fireworks of becoming attracted to someone.  Sometimes we are looking for love and sometimes cupid has his way and it finds us unsuspecting.

So what is that initial surge of attraction, the beauty and fun and excitement in the beginning stages of partnership?  The primal energy flurries through our stomach and you can literally feel the energy racing between you.  Chemical reactivity.   The physical attraction is strong and inviting and there is an almost sacrilege importance to intimacy and  “the first time”.  When we connect as a partnership and develop a relationship what happens to this energy, this chemical activity and these incredible feelings and emotions as time passes?
