Brisbane style

Brisbane's Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival has commenced with a fashionable bang and Monday night's Uniroyal National Designer Group Shows featured some of Australia's best fashion for spring summer 07/08 including Jayson Brundson, Alex Perry, Lisa Ho and our very own Bora and Easton Pearson.

Two stand-out collections were Easton Pearson and Jayson Brundson:

Easton Pearson

Easton Pearson's spring summer 07/08 collection is reminiscent of the 70's - think the very hip London boutique, Biba mixed with Moroccan Kasbah chic. Just perfect for cruising the Nile on board Christian Louboutin's fashionable boat.

Volume and fluidity, in the form of flowing kaftans, sarongs and long head scarves, was interestingly mixed with the very 'now' sporty chic with racer backs and hoodies. Throw in sexy baby doll, smocks and tunics and you've got very wearable and comfortable summer dressing with an ethnic twist.

White, burnt orange, olive green and peacock blue were dominant colours with interesting graphic prints and designs. Silver sequins were heavily featured and a stand-out dress was a 4-colour silver sequin smock with racer back.

The sequinned short hoodies were spectacular and long silk parker-style jackets were paired with sexy smock dresses. Knots, ball-tassels and bell sleeves added a striking 70's theme.

If exotic and 'international' is your favoured look this summer, Easton Pearson is sure to please.

Jayson Brundson

Once again Jayson Brundson proved he's the master of lady-like chic. His new season collection showed a woman's curves to elegant perfection with an emphasis on well-cut lines.

Chartreuse silk, beading and sequinned flowers were used throughout his collection in colours of classic black, mango, purple and orchid pink.

Cocktail dresses, perfect for Australian summer soirees, were in abundance either well cut and structured or soft and flowing. Classic back was the order of the day although the unusual pairing of colours such as mint and purple was an interesting alternative.

Sexy yet chic deep V-backs finished off the dresses to perfection.

1950's elegance is certainly back in style.
