George & Hector's
12 Week Better Babe Challenge

November 2007

Georgie & Hector

Meet Lisa, the lucky winner of the Georgie & Hector 12 Week Better Babe Challenge. When Lisa entered the competition for the Better Babe Challenge she told us "... My definition of BABES = a group of Brave, Affirmative, Beautiful, Energetic and Sophisticated women. I want to define 'Babe' by the end of 2007!..."

From August, we will be following Lisa's progress as she embarks on the change of a lifetime! Lisa is working towards increased motivation to achieve the goals she has set for herself both mentally and physically ... and the team at Georgie & Hector are going to help and encourage her in her journey, with a combination of practical, nutritional, mindset and physical advice and programs.

“My results are fantastic and I am really pleased”

Hi Babes!

WOW it's all over ... I can't believe that I have made it to the end of the 12 Week Georgie and Hector Program. What a great feeling!!! I am really happy with everything that I have achieved and I really do feel so fantastic about myself and about everything that I have learnt over my time in the program. It really does take a lot of determination to stick to something for 12 weeks, but it really is worth the commitment.

Over the last couple of weeks I did start to think about my "Big Finale" (I'm having the girls over for a cocktail party!) - which made me think about drinking and eating - not good distractions to have when you still have your final weigh in to go!!! I put those thoughts to the back of my mind while I tried to stay true to my low GI eating plan and daily exercising! It is funny how you enjoy exercising once you become better (I was going to say good, but probably a bad choice of words!) at it, I don't know what I would do now without some kind of exercise (particularly outdoors, I work in the city and the river run over to New Farm is perfect in the mornings if you can get out for a walk or a jog with a friend.it is just lovely and FLAT which is also great!)

I had my final cardio testing with Courtney this week and to be honest I was really nervous about it!!! I felt like I was still improving but it's so hard to tell after a while and I really wanted to finish the program with a bang! My results are fantastic though, so I was really pleased, I improved in everything except for my sprints but I wasn't too worried about that!!! More importantly ... I got above 30 push ups!!! I was SO happy about that, it was so far above the goal that I had set for myself so I was wrapped! Everything went so well and I was really pleased to see that my fitness was the best that it has been for a long time.

It was funny because although my weight has remained the same since about week 3 or 4, my fitness has been constantly improving and my body measurements have been decreasing. I usually look at the scales as a point of reference but this program has really shown me that you should ditch the scales and really go with how you are feeling and try to measure yourself instead of weighing yourself. If I didn't have measurements to go by I would have thought that the last 8 weeks had been a waste of time because I still weigh the same, but in essence my whole body composition has changed dramatically. Sometimes we get disheartened by what we see on the scales but you really just need to stick to what you know is good for you and you will see the results.

I have been working through positive thinking with my lovely life coach Helen, who has been showing me that with positive thinking we can really achieve the things that we want out of life. Despite being slightly sceptical I read the book The Secret, which to be honest was not my cup of tea, but was a great book if you don't take it too literally. There are concepts and ideas that you really can use to bring happiness and fulfilment into your life. It has some wonderful ideas about focusing your energy into things that you value, instead of wasting time and energy on parts of your life that have no or little value to you (like making other people happy, fulfilling other people's expectations).

Well, I think this is where I leave you ladies! It has been my absolute pleasure to write for you and a privilege to have been given the opportunity to do the 12 week Better Babe Challenge with Georgie & Hector. It has been an amazing journey for me and I have really learnt a lot of things about myself and I hope that you have all enjoyed following my progress over the past 12 weeks.

I thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Getting Styled Up

Just wanted to write you all a quick final message about my 'Pampering Day' to finish off my Georgie & Hector Program. I am sure that you will all be VERY jealous but I was lucky enough to go and get my hair done at Toni & Guy at Emporium and then get my makeup done and have a 2 hour makeup tutorial with the gorgeous Kristi from Pout at Greenslopes.

Firstly, the girls at Toni & Guy were fantastic! I decided to go with something a little bit different with my hair but they knew exactly what I was talking about and I felt totally comfortable as they chopped away. I decided to go with a fringe (I had been pondering it all morning.and I had a dream about it the night before!) and just a bit of a tidy up at the back (I am TRYING to grow my hair!). I wasn't too sure if I wanted to get any colour because I have been to the same hairdresser for the past 4 years (I am quite fussy when it comes to colour! - and I know she will probably kill me when she finds out that I have been somewhere else!) but I decided to just get some soft blonde foils through the top just to soften up the fringe. It looked great! I was so happy with the cut and the colour I couldn't believe it! I was really happy with the way it sat (I could keep the fringe straight down or sweep it over to the side). I just also need to mention that Tegan (the colourist that did my hair) was AMAZING and the sweetest girl, she was so friendly and she had the most incredible attention to detail - I was so impressed by her!!! I could not recommend her more highly if anybody is looking for a great colourist - she is your girl!

Then I went over to Pout at Greenslopes to have my makeup tutorial and that was by far the best surprise of the day! Kristi is so gorgeous and so wonderful, I had the best time playing with make up and trying different looks. She has her own hair and make up salon in Greenslopes that has a really cute/feminine/pretty vibe to it. We sat down at her make up counter and she talked me through how to apply my makeup PROPERLY, and what type of make up suits me, what to look for when buying make up, brands that are good, brands that are overrated, colours that suit my complexion, foundations choices.have I missed anything? I loved the way that Kristi made me feel completely comfortable even when I felt completely retarded at times! I loved that she encouraged me to try different application techniques myself (Kristi would do one eye and then I would attempt to do the other eye). It was just a really fun way to learn about make up and at the same time get your make up done to go out.

Kristi said that she often does girls nights where she goes over to somebody's place and does all of the girls makeup before they go out and shows them how to do their makeup. I am definitely having her around to my place with my girlfriends and a few bottles of bubbly one night soon! Her energy and fun personality really made the makeup tutorial something that was very memorable! Thanks Kristi!

So all in all I had the most wonderful day and I really did feel fabulous with my 'new look'!

Last but not least ... A big thank you to all the lovely girls at Georgie & Hector!

She even showed us her low GI cooking skills and made a huge basket of muffins for us all to share at Georgie & Hector - Thanks Lisa, they were Yummy!!

Life Coaching

From the beginning Lisa said that throughout the 12 weeks she was going to prove to herself that if she put her mind to something she could achieve it and she most certainly has, above and beyond her expectations! (but certainly not ours, we knew she was more than capable!) In becoming a better babe from a coaching perspective these are the 3 main goals we set out to achieve:

1. To increase her self confidence and ultimately feel confident
Lisa definitely feels more confident in herself and comfortable with her body and why wouldn't she! Lisa now knows that she has complete control over her thoughts and feelings in building greater self confidence.

She also feels more confident about her future, now full of possibility with clearly defined goals in place.

2. Improve her body image
Not only does Lisa look great but she also feels fantastic! All that commitment and hard work has paid dividends. Lisa is embracing summer at our doorstep and is looking forward to donning her bikini and heading to the beach! No more relying on others reactions or comments to allow herself to feel great.

3. Positive attitude - To adopt a 'cup half full' attitude
Lisa has certainly continued to improve her positive attitude and her recent experience in reading The Secret was yet another excellent example of this. As she said it was not her 'cup of tea' but still took away a positive viewpoint.

This new attitude also applies to her improved body image as she has learnt to love and respect her body and see it as a whole rather than being negative and focusing on specific body parts.

Lisa, you are a true inspiration to us all - Georgie and Hector included! It has been a privilege to be a part of your journey over the last 12 weeks and we know this is just the beginning in you becoming the best Babe you can be!

We wish you every success in the future.
