The princess vs the ogre

As a working princess i am privvy to the power plays and hierachy of the corporate office as well as the game playing mentality of the big mean ogre (also known as the swinging dick of the office). Aka the male boss. Typically aged between 35-55, perhaps slightly balding with a pot belly and in dire need of a wardrobe overhaul, these 'ogres' have worked their way up the corporate ladder, some via hardwork and some via butt kissing.

This is a total stereotype of course, but think about your experiences and you will agree it is one that is way too accurate. Now I have an issue that I need to get off my chest about these 'ogres'. As a working princess I believe I have certain rights within the workplace. I am entitled to manage my day how I see fit, I can multitask like no man can ever imagine doing so and I think and communicate differently to the 'ogre' making me a huge asset to any company. Why do they want to control us princesses? Why do they insist on micro-managing us?

Princesses have played crucial roles in the world of commerce and politics through the ages. A princess is perfect for many of the roles defined in the modern office. Our subtleties, our sharp mind, our unique way of seeing problems, make us perfect negotiators, managers, salespeople. It was the princess that had the ear of the prince and could alter the decisions he made, no matter how big or small.

What the ogre's don't understand is the role that princesses have always played within the office environment. Why is it that their ego's are out of control in the office? What is it with men and their ego's at work? Seriously, some of them don't have room for their huge egos as well as themselves in their office, at the same time. Where do these ogre's get these ego's from? Why do they think they can treat princesses the way they do?

WHY? WHY? WHY?

This princess has a theory on this.

These ogres are seriously under the thumb at home, have little power or little say and hence have to come to the office to exert their power. You know the ogre I am talking about. They are in every office and you can tell that the wife wears the pants at home. This is why they need to feel the power in the office.

Being a rank or two above us on the corporate ladder, they know technically, they can boss, reprimand, coerce, bully and demand and get away with it. Being superior (in the office world) they have a fair amount of power to expend and do so with little regard for its effect on you, the working princess.

After all, these Ogres think of the working princess as just a little eye candy that flits around in her trendy outfits, perfect manicure and gaggle of girlfriends. He doesn't believe she has a brain nor does he believe she is capable of anything that requires any real skill. He does think she is too emotional which apparently is a bad thing (news to me).

Now I know I think I should be treated like a princess at all times, but come on Ogre's, have some respect for the princesses in the office. You are NOT the centre of the universe and the world DOESN'T revolve around you, it revolves around us! You don't need to hate us just because we are prettier, better communicators and more empathetic than you.

Don't mess with us! The princess can turn into an ogre herself if you push too many buttons. The nails well and truly come out, and you will find yourself coming off second best if you step too far.

What we could do and what we should do are two different things ... So Ogres of the office world, please show some respect for the princesses in the office. If it's a battle between the princess and the ogre, who do you think will win the challenge?
