The 2008 Triumph 'Vive Les Babes' Event wrap

The economy is down, and the world financial markets are in crisis. But for an afternoon, the Babes in Business were looking up. The only crisis they faced was how many tickets buy in the Youngcare raffle and having the strength to carry home a heavily laden goodie bag.

There was nothing that could keep these fabulous women from enjoying the 2008 Triumph 'Vive Les Babes' Babes in Business lunch, held once again at Gianni's Portside.

Platinum sponsor Triumph continued to support Babes in more ways than one. Triumph truly is fantastic. Whether it's helping Babes to look great or helping to hold this fabulous lunch, their support is superb.

No Babes lunch would be complete without a glass or two of bubbles. Once again, our good friends Foster's helped with fabulous Yellowglen Vintage Bella, Coldstream Hills Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris from T’Gallant called Imogen and Pure Blonde Naked beer.

Alex Bernard of 4BC fame knew how to keep 400 Babes entertained, especially when she was showcasing the amazing 'Eyeful Tower' cocktail ring, created exclusively for Babes in Business by Ashley Douglas.

It was the centrepiece for this year's Youngcare fund raising activities, helping to raise nearly $14,000. A glorious 4 carat aquamarine, set amongst 18 carat white gold and a sparkling array of diamonds perfectly matched the afternoon's French theme. Very ooh la la.

The women of MummaBubba set up their beauty bar and had long queues of Babes keen to have their hair fixed and make-up freshened. Straight hair became curled, curly hair became straight, a nude lip colour changed to glamorous red and everyone looked gorgeous.

The Babes awards are always a key attraction and this year, as always, we were able to applaud the efforts of some of this city's most talented ladies.

Tension rose in the room when it was announced that the Babes Big Book of Ideas held the winning page to securing a table prize. Buried amongst the pages was a picture of the Eiffel Tower and a frenzy took over the room as Babes repeatedly flipped through the pages in search of the elusive symbol of all that is French.

Byblos provided the perfect backdrop to the after-party with many Babes heading downstairs to enjoy a cocktail or two on a balmy spring night (and perhaps kick off the heels ...)

There was such a positive mood pervading through the lunch. New friends were made, business cards were swapped, ideas were nurtured and shoes were admired. The chatter never really stopped, except perhaps when Alex Bernard announced the winning ticket for the 'Eyeful Tower' cocktail ring. The Babes annual lunch has truly found its place on the Brisbane calendar as the year's A-list women's event.
