Editor's letter

Dear Babes,

The pace of modern life, is, perhaps most acutely felt at this time of year when many of us succumb to the realisation that we are half way back to Christmas, but feel that we've done a year's worth of toil already.

That sense of exhaustion can be compounded for those of us who struggle through the usual ailments small children seem to bring home the minute the temperature drops and the westerlies pick up.

I certainly hope, then, that this month's edition of our Babes in Business website can revive your spirits and enable you to view the season as a chance to renew and embrace fresh opportunities, particularly as one financial year closes and another begins.

Don't miss the musings of columnists Julie Kelso and Bron McClain - contrasting takes on the all too common pressure we all feel to get fit and lose weight.

Make sure you read the new column this month from Karen and Penny at Outshine, debunking beauty myths and Shoe Addict's Tracey Millard's sage advice on dressing for the climate.

Anne Williamson of Ord Minnett takes the mystery out of IPOs and Adele Blair sets us straight on being organised for tax time. So much great reading in fact - I suggest taking the notebook to bed, tucking yourself in with a nice glass of Sav Blanc from New Zealand and staying in for the night.

But rug up and come out for the great Babes events we have coming up this month. This Friday 6 July is our next Miss Behaving Monthly at the Fox Hotel, sponsored by Jean Brown, Arbonne International, Ord Minnett and Fosters Australia. It will be a beauty.

And next week, support Youngcare and be among the first to see acclaimed new film Evening starring Glenn Close, Toni Collette, Claire Danes, Vanessa Redgrave, Natasha Richardson and Meryl Streep. This exclusive Babes in Business preview is at Dendy Portside next week - 11 July. Don't miss it.

And a big thank you to my three year old Emmeline Maeve who sat on my lap as I tapped out this letter, and who helped no end with her complements on my current choice of nail polish as her baby turtle finger puppet added (or deleted) every few words.

See you soon and have a great month!
