Beauty & the Bitch
It is widely agreed upon that women don't spend all their time and money waxing, preening, shopping and baking in order to impress men, it is other women whom they seek approval from. We women are well aware that men are easy to please when it comes to looking 'sexy', a short skirt and certain wiggle in your walk will satisfy them, however our female contemporaries are much harder to please.

Pick up any trashy mag at the register and you'll find dozens of photos minutely scrutinizing celebrity women for being too fat, too thin, too spotty, or for having underarm hair, bunions, sweat marks, food stains, tan lines, orangey fake tan, bad dresses or horror-show make-up. These publications are aimed at women and specialise in taking bitchy delight in laughing at other women.
And it's not just the celebrity magazines where we can satisfy this need for picking other women to pieces. Walking into an event, we all know that every facet of our body will be examined and dissected in a single glance by every other woman in the room. We know this because we do it ourselves.
We cannot know how much this culture of bitchy criticism affects the female psyche and negatively impacts upon female self-esteem. It's true what they say, women have become their own worst enemy. The good news is that this practice is simple to overcome and as Babes in Business is all about supporting our female peers, it's about time we all embraced the notion that we are all both unique and beautiful in our own right and check our judgments at the door.
Feeling sexy in our own skins shouldn't have to be at the expense of comparing ourselves to those we deem less attractive. Beauty is an attitude not a designer dress, so let's just leave the negative sexual stereotyping to the men and get on with business girls!
