A thirst for knowledge August 2008
How time flies!
Gosh, I just looked back at my Babe's Column file and realised I haven't written a column since April! That really frightens me because I could have sworn I only missed one or two months! Is it just me or is time going faster than it ever has before? I feel like I need to strap myself in or I'm going to fall off the earth it is moving so damn quick! Take a look at this World Clock and your head will truly spin!

Remember when we were younger, pre work, pre boyfriend, pre husband, pre kids, and time was an endless commodity? It is true when they say life goes full circle, because I know when I become elderly I am going to have endless time on my hands again, and will be wishing for these busy days to come back. The grass is always greener ...
This month I'm not sticking with any particular theme as I've come across many interesting sites over the past few months and I'd love to share them with you. So rather than bore you with any more chit chat, let's get straight into it.
This is by far the site I love the most as there is nothing more inspiring than a great speaker. How would you like to have access to the world's most entertaining, inspiring and innovative speakers and be able to hear their best presentations anytime? Well you can do just that by visiting Ted.com . I stumbled across this site a few months ago and signed up to their newsletter. Every few weeks they will send you an email with the latest talks. I don't listen to them all, but the ones I have heard are just amazing. It's like having an open invitation to the world's best seminars. If you have a spare half an hour, please visit this site, I can guarantee you will find something that blows you away.
Cooking:
This is a great site for all those busy babes who need to come up with a quick nutritious meal. Not only does it give you a recipe and all the nutritional details for the meal, but you can ask for a weekly menu plan, including a shopping list. The absolute best feature is the ability to put in a random ingredient you might have in your fridge or pantry and it will find you some suitable recipes. Awesome!
Music:
Have you ever had the urge to hear a song you haven't heard in years? For me I often feel like hearing "Build me up, Buttercup", it always makes me smile. Perhaps you have wanted to send the song to a friend over msn without having to download the song? Pay a visit to Grooveshark and save as a favourite. You can listen to thousands of songs online and it also provides a URL for sending to friends. You can't download music with this version, but you can listen for free on your computer.
Travel:
If you are like me and love a good list to get you organised, this is a great site for planning your holiday. You do need to register to get started, it only takes 30 seconds and it's free, then you put in a couple of details about your holiday and voila! You are provided with planning lists for your trip. Whilst you might not want to do everything on these very comprehensive lists, they give you a starting point and often provide things that you might not have thought about until it was too late. I rate this site!
Business Page of the Month:
Now that I am a sole trader, I now longer have the benefit of the IT Department who I used to call whenever I had a little IT problem or question. I recently found a site called www.asktheadmin.com and I don't feel so alone anymore! It's a bit of a do it yourself helpdesk and, as well as providing answers to my questions, it manages to keep the nerd alive in me.
Handy Site of the Month:
Need to convert inches to centimetres? Gallons to litres? Magnetic Field Strength? This handy site has conversions for every measurement known to man (or in our case babes). It's called Convertworld.com.
"Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic."
Until next month ...
